Pantries are quite popular and helpful to have especially with all the recycling as well as special diets. For smaller homes, like ours which is one of the drawings below, I do an L shaped line of cabinets and then stick the Pantry in a corner. We always loose some usable space at cabinet corners with some portions just not usable. Look at a Lazy Susan Base cabinet and see all of the unused space beyond the wheel. In a Corner Base without a Lazy Susan, one simply has a very difficult time getting things into and out of the 2 foot by 2 foot of base cabinet that has no direct access to the Kitchen. So by having the cabinet run straight and dead end at the wall near the pantry we actually gain 2 more good usable feet of cabinet space. The small pantry provides a huge amount of inexpensive and highly usable storage. Once I designed a Kitchen that had two pantries. Which I have added a drawing for too below. Oh so popular!
