My sister and brother in law wanted to have a one story home which took some convincing since they were buying the land from the builder of the home and he was much in the habit of doing two story homes. We eventually succeeded and in fact have it set up for easy transition vertically with just one 4 inch riser from the garage into the house. Off of the central block of the house which houses the living and dining rooms on the front and the Kitchen/Breakfast/Family room on the back there is a wing for the master suite and one for the guest beds as well as a screened bridge out to a screened porch. The porch and the master suite form a rear courtyard that is private and peaceful. The screened porch off of the bridge allows for much light into the home and screened porch. This porch also offers a theme showcase with Flags in the Summer and a Christmas Tree in the Winter.
Of course everyone notices the recessed traditional keyhole entry with the copper cladding. After they visit and are filled with the wonderful food coming out of the Kitchen and through the pass through to the dining room, they often notice most the two pantries serving the kitchen. One storied beauty!
